We are pleased to announce that Michael Paccioco, Mechanical Engineer with Hydro Tech, has recently achieved designation as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
Michael has over 10 years of experience in project management in the Energy sector and has developed extensive skills in project management, technical reporting, and quality assurance. During his years at Hydro Tech, Michael has expanded his skill set to include Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) metrology experience and resource planning for turbine overhauls.
Michael is working with our Engineering department on SRED projects and IRAP projects for bearing materials. These projects are proprietary and will help to move Hydro Tech forward in the field of turbine bearing engineering and design. Michael has also assisted Hydro Tech in patenting its Turbine Shaft Sleeve design for installation in the field with no welding requirement.
Hydro Tech recognizes the many years of hard work that have gone into this accomplishment and we look forward to working alongside Michael as he progresses in his career.
As Vice President of Field Services, Travis Penno is the newest addition to Hydro Tech’s growing team. Travis is a construction and project professional with over 20 years of engineering and project management experience. A registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng), he brings expertise in safe work practices, scheduling, estimating, budgeting, and risk management that will be invaluable to our clients.
Travis offers exceptional technical and business skills in construction packages and scope of work development, contract negotiations and implementation, change order management, union negotiations, and First Nations consultations. He is a valuable asset to the company team with his multidisciplinary background in engineering and construction and in managing large civic, mechanical, and electrical scopes of work.

As a Senior Engineer at Hydro Tech, Alan Tower joins our team of hydro-mechanical professionals in the delivery of a wide variety of projects. Acting as a contact for clients, stakeholders, sub-consultants, contractors and project staff, Alan will be responsible for field engineering and site management.
Alan is a collaborative and analytical professional engineer experienced with both the mechanical and electrical engineering of generating systems. His consulting expertise includes hydro generator improvement, failure analysis, maintenance, disassembly and assembly, alignment, balancing, upgrades, life extensions, weld repairs, quality assurance, maintenance procedures methods and specifications, project communication, documentation and reports, and new installations and commissioning. Alan is a registered Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in Alberta, NWT, Yukon, Saskatchewan and Ontario.

We are pleased to announce that Daniel Westerbaan, Mechanical Research Engineer with Hydro Tech, has recently achieved designation as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
During his time at Hydro Tech, Daniel has become a valued member of our team, performing two significant roles: heading up our R&D program which is currently focusing on combined thrust/upper guide plain bearings, PTFE manufacturing, and stern tube bearings; and, supporting Hydro Tech with welding engineering processes. Daniel brings strong leadership and problem-solving skills to drive research and the development of technological solutions for our clients.
