Hydro Mechanical Engineer

Job Description

Salary: $80,000 – $100,000 per year

Additional Pay: Overtime pay

 

Position Overview

Hydro Tech is seeking a skilled Hydro Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team. In this hybrid role, you’ll be responsible for the planning, design and construction management of hydro-electric projects for generator / turbine overhauls and intake / spill gates enhance optimal compatibility with the environment and the fulfilment of increasing safety requirements.

 

Duties and Responsibilities

The Hydro Mechanical Engineer is responsible to:

  • Design upgrades for generator and turbine overhauls
  • Investigate, report, & recommend corrective actions for non-conformances
  • Develop & oversee major projects including budgeting/quoting
  • Quality Assurance/Quality Control and project management
  • Coordinate consultants, contractors, material suppliers and machine shops
  • Monitor, record and maintain data, documentation, and drawings
  • Participate in peer drawing reviews
  • Mentor and training of new engineering employees
  • Review shop status at machine shops and site work as needed
  • Complete dimension inspections with Romer Arm or Laser Tracker if needed or analyze data provided by others
  • Complete drawings and designs with the use of Autocad Inventor
  • Foster collaboration and knowledge transfer, coaching and mentoring among peers
  • Utilize the use of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) in design work
  • Any other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • P.Eng. designation OR Diploma Mechanical Technology plus 3 years minimum hydroelectric plant experience
  • Able to provide technical leadership for troubleshooting and problem-solving mechanical generator issues
  • Must have Class G driver’s license
  • Excellent communication and computer skills
  • Must be willing and able to travel internationally
